Sprouts are a fantastic way to add fresh, nutritious variety to your bird’s diet. When seeds and legumes begin to sprout, they become a fresh living food that many parrots absolutely love with a softer texture that makes them fun to forage, nibble and explore.

Sprouts can be offered alongside a balanced everyday diet to provide extra variety and enrichment. They’re particularly useful for birds that are reluctant to try fresh vegetables, as the familiar seed-like appearance can make them much more appealing.

Serving tip: Offer freshly prepared sprouts in a clean dish and remove uneaten sprouts after a few hours. Because sprouts are moist and can support bacterial or mould growth, good hygiene is essential rinse thoroughly during preparation, keep equipment clean, refrigerate finished sprouts and discard anything that smells unusual or shows signs of spoilage.
